Kenya’s Best Kept Secret
Like most people coming from North America, we had no idea how beautiful Kenyan beaches were before moving here and seeing them on our own. I would go as far as saying that Kenya has some of the best beaches in the world, especially in the Diani Beach area.
Rock and Sea, Watamu
If the beach life is not quite enough for you, Rock and Sea should add a little bit of magic to your trip to the Kenyan coast.

The Rock and Sea Resort has different kinds of accommodations including a very nice cottage overlooking the ocean. But if you are like us and love unique stays, you have to stay inside the beach bubble room. Three inflated bubbles all connected together to creata a one of a kind stay.
The rest of the resort is also very nice and private with a lot of trees everywhere. We have to give a special mention to the pool: it is the best one we have seen in the country to this day. The resort itself has a small beach access but ask the owner about the secret beach and you won’t regret it. Less than a 5 minute walk and you will find yourself alone on a white sand beach.
Welcome to Italy in Kenya
Now, we have to talk about the food. The owner of Rock and Sea is an Italian man who moved here with his family a few years ago to operate this great resort. He trained his chefs to make pasta from scratch and imports all his ingredients from his village back in Italy. Because of that, Rock and Sea has the best pasta we have ever had and ate pasta dishes our entire stay.

The Sands At Chale Island, Diani Beach
There is only one over the water villa in Kenya and it is at The Sands At Chale island in Diani Beach. This is by far our favorite coastal experience in Kenya to this day.

This resort offers a large variety of accommodation which starts at a very affordable price. They also have a honeymoon suite which is on its own small island. But the star of the show is this one of a kind over the water villa. Since it is located on the other side of the island you get privacy like nowhere else and the view is simply outstanding.
Free activities
Something worth mentioning are the free daily activities offered by the resort which really adds value to your stay. We went out for an hour long kayak activity and even went under for a really fun scuba diving initiation in the pool.
The Sands At Chale Island is a great resort with good service and food but what made it very special was to stay in the only over the water villa in Kenya.
Leopard Point Resort, Malindi
Welcome to Leopard Point Luxury Beach Resort & Spa, a true 5 star location or maybe even 6 star.
True luxury
Leopard Point is a beautiful location in Malindi. White buildings everywhere, a beautiful pool and a private pool as well in front of your room. They also have a lovely spa if you are looking for some true relaxation. This resort is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine by your pool, the beach, or one of their two restaurants that both overlook the Indian Ocean.
If you are looking for a more traditional beach resort that is on the more luxurious side, then Leopard point is a great option for you. I would definitely suggest anyone to go there for a couple’s vacation or maybe a girls trip and would avoid bringing young kids as they are going for a more relaxing vibe.
